Our piano teacher Corey, in Queen West, offers piano lessons in all styles of music, for ages 4 and above, from beginner to advanced. Corey is a versatile multi-instrumentalist with an Honours degree in Music from Humber College and a Bachelor of Education from York University. With over a decade of experience in teaching and mentoring students, Corey has worked with learners of every age, ability, and skill level. Corey has extensive experience across a variety of musical styles, including classical/orchestral music, jazz, rock, blues, punk, reggae, country, electronica, and recent adventures into Indonesian Gamelan. He is proficient across multiple instruments, including guitar, piano, bass, ukulele, percussion (orchestral, drum kit), recorder, and vocals. He is also experienced in production (Pro Tools, Ableton), arranging, and composition, including his solo EP Valentine's Day (2017) and Sincerely Yours (2023) with The Midsummers, performing in settings ranging from formal (conductors, sheet music, stages) to informal (improvisation, jams, a bundle of cables and wires on the street). As a licensed, fully certified teacher in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers, Corey's methods are grounded in rigorous pedagogical training. He works collaboratively with students toward their own goals, whether that's learning a specific song or building deeper knowledge of theory and composition. He often breaks down songs and arrangements to reveal how they're built, drawing on insight that goes beyond traditional theory conventions (though he can tell you what mezzo forte means if requested).
