Our piano teacher Joanna, in West Queen West, offers classical and pop/rock piano lessons for ages 6 and above, from beginner to advanced. This piano teacher has a Master of Music degree and professional experience both teaching and performing. Joanna has been teaching piano lessons since 2000. As a highlight of her career, this piano teacher has had the pleasure of performing her original compositions for solo piano alongside works of Chopin, one of her favourite composers. Joanna also performed as a collaborative pianist in a 19-piece all-female band that opened for pop star Lionel Richie in Tuskeegee, Alabama, commemorating black WWII veterans. She enjoys playing solo excerpts from piano concertos in her free time. This piano teacher has accompanied students for university entrance exams, RCM exams, Kiwanis festivals, concerto competitions, and much more. Since she is also a French horn soloist and ensemble player, she has an intimate knowledge of what it is like to be both the soloist and the accompanist in a performance. She coaches her students to understand both roles and excel in auditions/ exams. They often win top marks and move up to compete at higher levels. Joanna has served as Musical Director and Pianist for musical theatre shows and also as a collaborative pianist with university professors and at prestigious festivals. Joanna is skilled at understanding and adapting to students' various learning styles, and can facilitate the most reliable, efficient outcomes in less time.
