William: Piano Teacher in M6G, Toronto
Our piano teacher William offers piano lessons in all styles of music for ages 7 and above, from beginner to advanced. This piano teacher has a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a wealth of experience both teaching and performing on piano. William has been teaching piano lessons since 2016. William has been performing as a solo pianist since 2015, with regard for both the classical and jazz traditions. His style is relaxed and open to where a piece might go, as much in jazz as in classical music. William has been performing in bands and ensembles for much of his life. Most recently, he is the pianist in a trio called C'est la Fête, which plays frequently around Toronto alongside numerous featured musicians from the jazz and improvised music communities. William has experience as an accompanist for both solo and an ensemble of jazz vocalists. He also has much experience as an accompanist of solo instruments, including saxophone and trumpet, both in performance of compositions and in improvisation. William has written music for a number of independent short films, and continues to curate shows and events in Toronto. William's teaching style centers around the question of learning. Of course this is what teaching is, but he is interested in what it means to learn how to learn. This is a central question in improvisation, but also more generally in musical practice and discipline. William is dedicated to helping his students explore these questions in their journey to learn to play the piano.
